Cult-de-Sac #2

Cult-de-Sac #2 emerged from the independent underground comics movement of the early 2000s, a period marked by an intensified interest in zine culture and small-press publishing. Conceived as a satirical anthology, the series aimed to parody suburban conformity and the peculiarities of cult-like social structures, offering a biting commentary on the disconnect between glossy domestic ideals and the darker, odd realities beneath the surface.

The visual language of the issue was heavily influenced by mid-century commercial advertising aesthetics, twisted to serve a subversive, unsettling narrative. By juxtaposing mundane suburban settings with surreal and occult undertones, the creators sought to provoke a sense of uncanny familiarity in the reader. Upon its release, it was noted primarily within niche independent art circles for its stark, minimalist cover design and its dedication to dry, deadpan humor.
