Cuentos de Misterio #23

Cuentos de Misterio was a long-running Mexican pulp anthology series published by Editorial Novaro during the mid-20th century. Issue #23 emerged during an era when the publisher was instrumental in translating and reformatting American comic content for Latin American audiences, often mixing original local illustrations with imported stories. These digests were highly popular for their portable size and their role in bringing suspense and horror genres to a mass-market readership.

The design and artistic direction of the Novaro line were characterized by the distinct, expressive cover art typical of the period's newsstand aesthetics. Editorial Novaro utilized a pool of talented local artists who refined the visual language of the series to suit the sensibilities of its audience. The publication remains a significant piece of comic history, representing the widespread cultural impact of accessible, serialized fiction in Mexico before the decline of the pulp digest format.
