Dangerous Jī-san: Daichōhen Korekushon #2

Dangerous Jī-san: Daichōhen Korekushon #2 is part of a special long-form compilation series spin-off from the long-running gag manga series Zettai Zetsumei Dangerous Jī-san, authored by Kazutoshi Soyama. First serialized in CoroCoro Comic in 2001, the series became a cultural phenomenon among young readers in Japan for its chaotic, absurdist humor and the titular grandfather character’s penchant for over-the-top antics. The Daichōhen Korekushon volumes were produced to collect extended, high-stakes narratives that deviated from the standard short-form gag format, offering fans longer adventures featuring the series' signature irreverent style.

The aesthetic of this collection follows Soyama’s distinctive approach to shonen comedy, which prioritizes frantic line work, expressive facial distortions, and a disregard for traditional manga pacing. As a key figure in modern children's manga, Soyama designed the Jī-san character to be a subversion of the typical kindly elder, and the long-form issues were received by the target demographic as essential extensions of the lore. These collections remain highly regarded for their archival quality, preserving the frenetic energy and crude humor that defined the franchise's enduring popularity throughout the 2000s.
