Das Land der Juwelen #13

Das Land der Juwelen, known originally as Houseki no Kuni, is a manga series authored and illustrated by Haruko Ichikawa. Since its debut in 2012, the work has been recognized for its distinctive minimalist aesthetic and philosophical narrative, which centers on immortal gem-beings engaged in a conflict with moon-dwellers. Issue thirteen serves as a significant installment in the series, reflecting the refined, stark visual style that Ichikawa cultivated to emphasize the crystalline nature of her protagonists against their vast, lonely environments.

The production of the German edition was handled by Manga Cult, who sought to maintain the high print quality necessary to capture Ichikawa's intricate linework. Within the broader context of the series, this volume contributes to the evolving tone of the story, moving from mythological fantasy toward existential tragedy. Upon its release, the series was well-received by international critics for its artistic departure from standard shonen tropes, marking it as a standout title in contemporary seinen literature.
