DC Comics Presents #24

DC Comics Presents #24 was published in August 1980 as part of DC Comics' flagship team-up series, which primarily focused on pairing Superman with various characters across the company's expansive roster. During this era, DC sought to maintain reader interest by blending the Man of Steel with both established heroes and more obscure figures, often utilizing these issues to test the viability of character interactions or to flesh out the broader DC Universe.

This specific issue features a story written by Len Wein and illustrated by Jim Starlin, who also provided the cover art. Starlin, known for his distinctively bold and sometimes cosmic artistic sensibility, brought a dramatic flair to the encounter between Superman and the Martian Manhunter. The work was received as a standard but solid entry in the series, appreciated by readers for its focus on the philosophical and physical parallels between the two alien protagonists, highlighting their shared status as outsiders within Earth's society.
