DC Comics Presents #37

DC Comics Presents #37, published in September 1981, arrived during a period when DC Comics frequently utilized team-up titles to experiment with character pairings and explore the expansive nature of the DC Universe. This specific issue, written by Gerry Conway with pencils by Rich Buckler, serves as a notable entry in the series, featuring a team-up between Superman and the Martian Manhunter. The narrative was designed to highlight the cosmic scope of these two powerful figures, fitting well within the bronze age tradition of building high-stakes, action-oriented encounters.

The cover art was provided by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, whose distinct, clean style became the definitive visual benchmark for DC characters throughout the 1980s. His work on this issue is often praised by collectors for its classic composition and clear character renderings. At the time of release, the book was received as a standard but solid addition to the ongoing anthology series, contributing to the broader mythology that emphasized Superman's role as a bridge between the various extraterrestrial heroes and teams operating within the DC continuity.
