DC Finest: Fourth World: When the Old Gods Die #1

DC Finest: Fourth World: When the Old Gods Die #1 serves as a modern collection of Jack Kirby’s seminal work from the early 1970s. Originally published as a series of interconnected titles including The New Gods, The Forever People, and Mister Miracle, these stories represented Kirby’s attempt to create a cohesive 'Fourth World' mythology for DC Comics. This specific volume repackages the foundational chapters of that saga, documenting the epic conflict between the benevolent New Genesis and the tyrannical Apokolips.

The design and narrative vision for the Fourth World were entirely the brainchild of Jack Kirby, who sought to blend space opera with complex, mythological archetypes. At the time of its initial release, the ambitious scope and unconventional dialogue were met with mixed commercial success, yet they have since been recognized as some of the most influential works in the medium. This collection retains the original artistic vitality of Kirby’s dynamic layouts, presenting his vision to a contemporary audience in a high-quality, long-form format.
