DC Special Series #11

Published by DC Comics in 1978, DC Special Series #11 is a significant entry in the publisher's late-seventies treasury-sized format. This specific issue is highly regarded by collectors as it features an original Batman story titled 'Wanted: Santa Claus - Dead or Alive,' written by Denny O'Neil and illustrated by Frank Miller. This work represents one of Miller's earliest contributions to the Batman mythos, predating his definitive influence on the character during the eighties.

The issue is historically noted for its seasonal theme and the distinctive artistic direction of the cover, which was provided by Frank Miller and Dick Giordano. The project was designed to offer fans a more expansive reading experience through the larger dimensions of the treasury series. It remains a sought-after piece of ephemera for comic book historians, serving as a critical bridge between the bronze age style of storytelling and the darker, more cinematic sensibilities that would later define the modern era of the caped crusader.
