DC's Quoth the Raven… Whatever #1

Quoth the Raven… Whatever was a short-lived satirical series published by DC Comics in 1996, emerging during a period when the publisher was experimenting with more irreverent, self-aware humor titles. The project aimed to parody the gothic tropes and dramatic flair often associated with dark fantasy and superhero storytelling, serving as a humorous counterpoint to the more serious tones prevalent in the industry at the time.

The series was produced under DC’s general imprint and featured a creative team tasked with subverting standard comic tropes through slapstick and absurdity. While it did not garner widespread critical acclaim or long-term commercial success, it remains a distinctive artifact of the mid-90s push toward experimental, comedic genre mashups that briefly flourished before the market shifted back toward more traditional serialized narratives.
