Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa, originating in the mid-1960s to showcase longer, high-quality Disney stories that did not fit into the standard Mickey Mouse magazine format. Issue #228, released as part of this legacy, continues the tradition of collecting classic duck-centric narratives, primarily featuring the work of master storytellers like Carl Barks or Don Rosa alongside various Italian and European Disney production studios.
The aesthetic of this series is defined by the iconic character designs established by Walt Disney's studio, adapted for the German market with the specific localized translations that have endeared the series to generations of readers. These issues were designed to be accessible, portable entertainment, and their longevity is a testament to the enduring popularity of Donald Duck as a cultural icon in German-speaking countries, where the character has maintained a devoted following for decades.
