Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa, which began in 1965 as an offshoot of the popular Micky Maus magazine. These issues were designed to provide a dedicated platform for longer, often adventurous Carl Barks or Don Rosa stories, catering to the burgeoning market of adult collectors and dedicated fans who wanted more substantial narratives than the weekly episodic format offered.
Issue number 235 belongs to a period in the late 1990s when the series had cemented its reputation as a staple of German-language Disney comics. The design follows the classic, utilitarian aesthetic characteristic of European digest-sized comics, prioritizing readability and preservation of the original American artwork. Like its predecessors, it was received as a reliable, high-quality compilation, continuing the tradition of the series as a cornerstone for European Donald Duck enthusiasts.
