Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to by the acronym DDSH, is a long-running German-language Disney comics anthology published by Ehapa. Launched in 1965, the series was designed to showcase high-quality material, often featuring the work of legendary creators like Carl Barks. The series became a cornerstone for European collectors due to its focus on longer, narrative-driven stories that moved beyond the typical gag-a-day format found in smaller pocket books.
Issue #285, released in the early 2000s, follows the established editorial tradition of curating a mix of classic reprints and contemporary Disney stories. The cover art and interior layouts align with the series' long-standing aesthetic, which prioritizes the expressive, clean line work typical of the Barks and Don Rosa eras. As a mid-tier issue in a prolific run, #285 is valued today primarily for its role in maintaining the continuity of a series that has significantly influenced the appreciation of Disney comics in German-speaking territories.
