Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Spezial is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa. Beginning in the mid-1980s, the series was designed to provide a dedicated home for high-quality Disney reprints, specifically focusing on the expansive library of Carl Barks’ Duck stories. Issue #9, published in the early 1990s, continues this tradition by curating a thematic anthology of Donald Duck adventures that emphasize the classic slapstick humor and narrative depth associated with Barks’ work.
The aesthetic of the series relies on the iconic character designs developed by the Disney studio artists, with the cover art typically featuring vibrant, clean-lined illustrations consistent with the established European Disney style. These publications were received as essential reading for collectors of German-language comics, serving as an accessible gateway for readers to engage with foundational Duck stories that had previously appeared in older formats like Micky Maus or the DDSH main series.
