Do Women Need Sex Entertainment? #1

Do Women Need Sex Entertainment? #1 emerged during the late 1970s, a period defined by the burgeoning sexual liberation movement and the rise of independent underground comix. Produced as a provocative exploration of female desire and autonomy, the publication served as a satirical response to the male-dominated pornographic media landscape of the era. It aimed to challenge traditional tropes and invite a candid conversation about the legitimacy and representation of female sexual agency.

The publication is noted for its unfiltered, DIY aesthetic, characteristic of the era's underground press scene. While it lacked the polish of mainstream magazines, its raw approach was intentional, designed to mirror the authentic, often messy, reality of its subject matter. Though its reach was niche, it remains a documented artifact of the underground comix culture, reflecting a moment when creators sought to reclaim narratives surrounding women's sexuality through the medium of sequential art and subversive essays.
