Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #4

Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #4 was published by Marvel Comics in 1989, serving as a continuation of the character's long-running tenure in the Marvel Universe. This specific series was notable for its attempt to reconcile the character's traditional mystical roots with the evolving tone of late 1980s comics, maintaining the cosmic scope that defined the Sorcerer Supreme while introducing updated narrative arcs.

The issue features cover art and interior work consistent with the era's editorial direction under Marvel's established house style. Roy Thomas, a veteran writer and editor, contributed to the series' direction during this period, focusing on dense, lore-heavy storytelling that aimed to satisfy long-term readers. It was received as a stable entry in the character's post-original-series canon, reflecting the transition toward more modern, serialized superhero tropes while honoring the psychedelic origins established by Steve Ditko.
