Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #18

Published in May 1990, Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #18 was released during a period when the character's solo title was navigating the complexities of Marvel's magical landscape. The issue is notable for being part of the wider Acts of Vengeance crossover event, a company-wide storyline where various supervillains conspired to defeat heroes they had not previously encountered. This editorial framework required the title to integrate broader Marvel continuity while maintaining the surreal, mystical tone established by the long-running series.

The issue features artwork by Jim Valentino and scripting by Roy and Dann Thomas. Valentino, known for his distinct, expressive style, sought to balance the traditional dark aesthetics of the Doctor Strange mythos with the fast-paced, action-oriented requirements of the crossover event. The book was received as a functional installment within a larger narrative puzzle, appreciated by readers for how it forced the Sorcerer Supreme to confront unconventional threats outside of his usual supernatural rogues' gallery.
