D'Orc #8

D'Orc, a satirical fantasy comic series created by artist and writer Christophe Arleston alongside illustrator Jean-Louis Mourier, emerged from the French-Belgian comics tradition during the mid-2000s. Debuting in 2005 under the Soleil Productions banner, the series was conceived as a lighthearted, humorous subversion of classic high-fantasy tropes, focusing on an anti-heroic orc protagonist. The series gained steady traction for its witty writing and Mourier's expressive, dynamic character designs which balanced slapstick humor with the established visual language of heroic fantasy.

The eighth volume in the series continues the established narrative thread, maintaining the visual consistency that fans of the series had come to expect. By the time this issue was released, D'Orc had solidified its place as a staple of the European humorous fantasy genre. It was generally well-received by the comics community for its ability to balance consistent world-building with a sardonic, irreverent tone that distinguished it from more serious fantasy epics of the period.
