Dragon Ball #42

Dragon Ball issue 42 serves as the final volume of the original manga series, released in Japan in 1995. The volume represents the culmination of a decade of storytelling that fundamentally shifted the global perception of Japanese animation and comics.

Akira Toriyama designed the series with a blend of martial arts action, comedic timing, and evolving character designs. In this final volume, Toriyama leaned into a more streamlined, high-energy aesthetic, choosing to wrap up the expansive journey with a sense of closure that honored the growth of his characters over the series' long run. Upon its release, it was received with widespread acclaim for its emotional resonance and its status as a landmark moment in popular culture.
