Elektra #1

Elektra #1, published by Marvel Comics in 1996, arrived during a period of significant creative experimentation for the publisher. The series was launched as part of the Marvel Knights imprint, which sought to revitalize character-driven storytelling with a more mature, gritty tone. Frank Miller, having defined the character's persona during his seminal run on Daredevil, set the stage for her standalone mythos, while this specific issue serves as the debut of a series that explores her isolation and lethal precision as an assassin.

The interior art for this debut was provided by Mike Deodato Jr., whose stylistic approach emphasized the dramatic shadows and dynamic anatomy often associated with the mid-nineties aesthetic. The design and narrative direction aimed to transition Elektra from a supporting antagonist into a complex protagonist capable of carrying her own title. Upon its release, the issue was received as a stylistic departure that prioritized atmosphere and character introspection, helping to cement the character's status as a quintessential anti-hero in the Marvel canon.
