Where it came from
Epic Graphic Novel: Moebius #6, titled The Airtight Garage, was released by Marvel Comics' Epic imprint in the late 1980s. This series was instrumental in introducing Jean Giraud, known by his pseudonym Moebius, to a wider American audience, moving his surreal and highly detailed science fiction works out of the underground market and into mainstream comic shops.
The Airtight Garage is widely regarded as one of the most significant works in European comics history, characterized by its non-linear narrative and intricate, expansive panel work. Giraud designed the series as an exercise in spontaneous storytelling, letting characters and settings evolve as he drew. Upon its release in the United States, the Epic edition was critically praised for its high production values and served as a major influence on subsequent generations of fantasy and science fiction illustrators.
