Fábulas: As 1001 Noites de Neve #1

Fábulas: As 1001 Noites de Neve, or Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall, was originally published in 2006 as a prestige format graphic novel within Bill Willingham's long-running Fables series. It serves as an anthology set within the established lore, framing the stories as Scheherazade telling tales to the Snow Queen. This narrative device allowed Willingham to explore the backstories of various Fables characters, providing a bridge between established mythologies and the contemporary noir setting of the main series.

The volume is notable for its diverse visual approach, featuring a collection of stories illustrated by a rotating roster of prominent artists, including James Jean, Tara McPherson, and Jill Thompson. The design intention was to emulate the aesthetic of classic fables and fairy tales while maintaining the gritty, subversive tone that defined the Vertigo imprint during the mid-2000s. It was well-received upon release, garnering a Hugo Award nomination for Best Graphic Story and earning praise for its ability to weave disparate artistic styles into a cohesive, atmospheric anthology.
