Fantastic Four #185

Fantastic Four #185 was published by Marvel Comics in August 1977 during the mid-Bronze Age of American comic books. This issue represents a period of transition for the title, as Len Wein took over both writing and editing duties. The story arc, titled The Trial of Reed Richards, centers on the team's legal and moral dilemmas, reflecting a broader thematic shift in 1970s Marvel storytelling that moved toward character-driven internal conflict rather than purely external super-powered threats.

The cover art and interior pencils were provided by George Pérez, a rising star at the time who would later become one of the most influential artists in the industry. Pérez was noted for his ability to handle large ensembles and dynamic, cinematic framing. His work on this issue was intended to modernize the Fantastic Four's aesthetic while maintaining the classic sensibilities established by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The issue was generally well-received by readers of the era, who appreciated Pérez's attention to detail and the deliberate pacing of the narrative.
