Where it came from
Fantastic Four issue 18 was published in September 1963 during the formative years of the Marvel Age of Comics. Created by the seminal duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the issue features the first appearance of the Super-Skrull, an antagonist designed by Kirby to provide a formidable challenge to the team by combining the powers of all four members into one extraterrestrial threat.
The narrative reflects the creative momentum of the early 1960s, where Lee and Kirby were rapidly expanding the scope of their shared universe beyond Earth. The design of the Super-Skrull remains a notable contribution to the visual language of the Marvel cosmic mythos, emphasizing the team's ongoing struggle against alien invasion and the evolution of the Fantastic Four as icons of mid-century pop culture.
