Where it came from
Fantastic Four #240, published in March 1982, arrived during the acclaimed tenure of writer and artist John Byrne. This issue was part of a transformative period for the series, where Byrne sought to revitalize the title by returning to the core family dynamics of the characters while injecting a more modern, cinematic sense of scale and visual sophistication.
The cover and interior art showcase Byrne's signature clean, detailed aesthetic, which helped define the visual language of Marvel Comics in the early 1980s. The issue contributed to the ongoing 'Terrax' storyline, a narrative arc that tested the limits of the team's power and internal bonds. It was well-received by readers of the era, who appreciated the narrative consistency and the refreshed artistic direction that helped restore the Fantastic Four to their status as Marvel’s premier super-team.
