Fantastic Four Annual #17

Fantastic Four Annual #17 was published by Marvel Comics in 1983. This issue serves as a hallmark of the Bronze Age of comic books, arriving during an era where Marvel expanded the narratives of their flagship properties through oversized annual editions. These issues often served as self-contained adventures or side stories that allowed creators to explore character development outside the constraints of the monthly publication cycle.

The issue features work by writer Bob Budiansky and artist Trina Robbins, the latter of whom holds a significant place in comics history for her contributions to independent and underground comix. Robbins' participation in this issue is particularly notable as it highlights the blending of mainstream superhero storytelling with the sensibilities of creators who emerged from the alternative press. The story itself focuses on the Fantastic Four's ongoing struggle with the cosmic scope of their world, maintaining the classic interpersonal dynamics that define the team.
