Where it came from
This volume is part of the manga adaptation of the 'Shimōsa' chapter of the mobile role-playing game Fate/Grand Order. The narrative, titled Epic of Remnant, explores various alternative historical timelines that diverged from the main continuity. This specific adaptation by Rei Wataru was serialized to translate the complex, samurai-infused atmosphere of the game's third 'pseudo-singularity' into a print medium, focusing on the journey through a realm obsessed with martial prowess and dueling.
The character designs and setting were heavily influenced by the aesthetic sensibilities of the original game, blending historical Edo-period Japan with supernatural elements typical of the Fate franchise. Rei Wataru's illustration style is noted for emphasizing kinetic action during the manga's intense sword-fighting sequences, maintaining fidelity to the source material's dark, gritty tone while expanding on the interactions between the protagonist and the various Eirei Kengō, or Heroic Spirit Swordmasters, encountered within the story.
