FemForce #19

FemForce #19 was published in 1988 by AC Comics as part of their long-running series centered on a team of super-powered women fighting against both terrestrial and extraterrestrial threats. Created by Bill Black, the series emerged from the publisher's interest in reviving the aesthetic and spirit of the Golden Age of comics, specifically focusing on the archetype of the powerful female lead which was often relegated to secondary roles in mainstream publications of the time.

The art and editorial direction for this period of the series maintained a signature retro-futuristic style that served as a hallmark of the AC Comics brand. Writers and artists working on the title during the late 1980s aimed to blend traditional adventure tropes with more modern character development, attempting to carve out a niche for independent publishers within the competitive landscape of the decade. The issue remains a notable entry for collectors focused on the history of independent superhero comics and the evolution of female representation in genre fiction.
