Where it came from
Flaming Carrot Comics was created by Bob Burden in the late 1970s, emerging from the independent underground comics scene. The character, a surrealist hero wearing a giant carrot head, served as a satirical deconstruction of the traditional comic book superhero, blending absurdity with a distinct, manic narrative style.
The first collected album served to compile Burden's surreal adventures for a broader audience after the character gained a cult following in the 1980s. Known for its chaotic layouts and bizarre humor, the work was celebrated by alternative comics enthusiasts for its refusal to adhere to mainstream tropes, cementing Burden's reputation as a singular visionary in the medium.
