Flaming Carrot Comics Collected Album #2

The Flaming Carrot Comics Collected Album series emerged from the independent comic explosion of the 1980s, serving as a compilation of Bob Burden's surrealist masterpiece, Flaming Carrot Comics. Originally serialized starting in 1983, the character—a man wearing a giant carrot mask who fights bizarre, absurd threats—became a cult icon of the underground scene. The collected albums were published to provide a cohesive reading experience for the episodic, hallucinatory adventures that defined the series during its most influential run.

Bob Burden both wrote and illustrated the series, employing a distinct, gritty, and intentionally disjointed style that complemented the character's nonsensical logic. By rejecting traditional superhero tropes in favor of Dadaist humor and stream-of-consciousness storytelling, Burden captured the anxieties and eccentricities of the era. These collections were well-received by fans of alternative comics, celebrated for their uncompromising departure from mainstream narrative structures and for cementing Burden's reputation as a singular visionary in independent publishing.
