From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now, and They Won’t Leave Me Alone #5

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now, and They Won’t Leave Me Alone began as a light novel series written by Shigeru Sagazaki, later adapted into a manga series illustrated by Kazuki Sato. The story follows Beryl Gardurant, a middle-aged sword instructor living a quiet life in a remote village, who finds his peaceful existence disrupted when his former students return as powerful adventurers seeking his guidance or affection. It is part of the popular 'isekai' and 'retired protagonist' subgenres, which emphasize the contrast between humble beginnings and the high-stakes world of fantasy heroism.

The fifth volume of the manga adaptation continues the visual narrative established by Sato, focusing on dynamic character designs that balance comedic expressions with detailed action sequences. Published in serialized form before being collected into tankobon volumes, the series has been well-received by readers for its lighthearted tone and subversion of typical fantasy tropes. The design choices prioritize character interaction, reflecting the series' thematic focus on the legacy of a mentor figure within a vibrant, magical world.
