FX Senshi Kurumi-chan #9

FX Senshi Kurumi-chan originated as a niche manga series published in the mid-1990s, centering on the unconventional premise of a young woman who trades foreign currencies to combat evil. The series was designed to gamify and dramatize the high-stakes world of Japanese forex trading, blending typical shojo-style character designs with the jargon and technical volatility of the financial markets.

Issue #9 reflects the series' signature approach of pairing dramatic narrative beats with genuine financial educational content, a hallmark of its creator, Hiroaki Matsui. While the series remains a curiosity for its unusual fusion of magical girl tropes and fiscal policy, it is often cited by collectors as a distinct example of the hyper-specific subgenres that emerged in Japan during the post-bubble economic era.
