Gehenna in Tokyo #1

Gehenna in Tokyo #1 emerged in the early 2000s as part of an independent venture into neo-noir storytelling within the alternative comics scene. Created during a period when creators were increasingly self-publishing to bypass traditional editorial constraints, the series aimed to capture the disorienting, atmospheric tension of urban life through a stylized, experimental lens.

The visual language of the issue was heavily influenced by the gritty aesthetic of underground graphic narratives, emphasizing high-contrast shadows and fragmented, non-linear sequences. While it remained a niche publication, it was noted for its commitment to a specific, moody artistic vision, eventually finding a small but dedicated audience among collectors who appreciated the raw, stylistic risks taken by the creator in defining the series' dark, metropolitan tone.
