Where it came from
Getter Robot Go issue 5 is part of the manga serialization published by Shogakukan in the early 1990s. The series was created by Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai, representing the third installment in the classic Getter Robot franchise. It was developed to revitalize the iconic super robot concept for a new generation, shifting the narrative tone toward a more modern, militaristic aesthetic while retaining the core themes of team-based pilot synergy and evolving mechanical technology.
The design of the series reflects the transition of late-century mecha anime and manga, moving away from the more whimsical nature of earlier entries toward a grittier industrial style. Ken Ishikawa provided the intense, kinetic illustration style that defined the Getter franchise, focusing on massive, complex transformations. While the series achieved a dedicated cult following among fans of the Super Robot genre, it remains a distinct milestone in the legacy of Dynamic Planning's catalog.
