Gøg og Gokke #197111

Gøg og Gokke, the Danish localized title for the legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, enjoyed immense popularity in Scandinavia throughout the 20th century. This specific issue, numbered 197111, belongs to a long-running series of comic books published by Interpresse during the 1970s. These comics were designed to capture the slapstick essence of the duo’s classic film shorts, translating their physical comedy into static, panel-based storytelling for a younger audience.

The publication was part of a broader cultural trend of licensing classic Hollywood icons for international print markets. The design utilized expressive, caricatured illustrations that sought to maintain the distinct facial features and mannerisms of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. While these issues were produced primarily as mass-market entertainment, they are now viewed by collectors as artifacts of mid-century European pop culture, representing a time when international film stars were frequently adapted into localized comic serials to reach European readers.
