Gøg og Gokke #197409

Gøg og Gokke, the Danish localized title for the legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, was a long-running comic book series published in Denmark. The 1974 series, including the September issue numbered 197409, reflects the post-war era's enduring European fascination with classic American slapstick cinema. These comics often featured reprints of international strips or original illustrations commissioned to capture the iconic physical comedy and distinct character dynamics of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, who remained cultural staples in Scandinavia long after their film careers concluded.

The design of these comics focused on accessible, high-contrast layouts intended to appeal to younger readers while maintaining the visual shorthand of the duo's cinematic personas. Created during a period when licensed character comics served as a primary source of light entertainment for children, the series relied on the universal appeal of visual gags and mild situational humor. While individual issues were rarely the subject of intense critical discourse, the series as a whole is remembered for its role in preserving the legacy of Laurel and Hardy for generations who grew up with their films being broadcast on television.
