Gladstone Giant #6

Gladstone Giant #6 was released in 1987 as part of the Gladstone Publishing line, which held the license to produce Disney comic books in the United States after the dissolution of Western Publishing's long-running Disney tenure. The series was designed as a premium, larger-format comic book intended to showcase high-quality reprints and original stories featuring characters like Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge, aiming to satisfy an adult collector market that valued archival standards over the newsstand-style pamphlets of the past.

The publication was heavily influenced by the work of legendary Disney creator Carl Barks, whose stories often occupied the central pages of the Gladstone Giant issues. Editorial direction under Gladstone focused on restoring original color palettes and lettering, moving away from the modified versions seen in previous decades. This issue, like its predecessors, was well-received by fans for its attention to detail and its role in re-introducing mid-century Disney comic craftsmanship to a new generation of readers.
