Grayson #20

Grayson issue 20, published by DC Comics in 2016, serves as the final issue of the series that reimagined Dick Grayson as a globetrotting super-spy for the clandestine organization Spyral. The series, which launched in 2014, was crafted by writers Tom King and Tim Seeley along with artist Mikel Janín, intending to strip away the traditional Batman-adjacent tropes and place the character in high-stakes espionage narratives. This specific issue provided closure to the series' overarching mystery, effectively transitioning Grayson back into his role as Nightwing for the DC Rebirth initiative.

The creative direction of the series was lauded for its distinct visual aesthetic and unconventional storytelling approach, which prioritized character agency and international intrigue over standard superhero conflict. As the finale of the Grayson run, issue 20 was designed to tie up the narrative threads involving Spyral and the various identities Grayson had assumed throughout the series. It was generally well-received by readers for maintaining the momentum of the previous nineteen issues and providing a satisfying conclusion to the character’s tenure as an agent of mystery.
