Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #3

Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #3 was published by Marvel Comics in 1993, emerging during an era when the original iteration of the team, created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan in the late 1960s, was enjoying a renewed prominence within the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. As part of the company's annual publication initiative, this issue served to expand upon the complex futuristic lore of the 31st-century team, exploring deep-space narratives that moved away from the grounded superhero tropes of contemporary Earth-based titles.

The issue features work from creators who were instrumental in maintaining the continuity of the Guardians during the 1990s, focusing on the character dynamics and political landscape of their timeline. The design and visual storytelling adhered to the dramatic, high-energy aesthetic characteristic of the period's comic book art, aiming to capture the scale of interstellar conflict. It was received as a standard piece of 1990s cosmic canon, functioning primarily as a connective narrative for readers following the team's ongoing struggle against entities like the Badoon.
