Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #2

Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #2 was published by Marvel Comics in 1992, emerging during a period when the original iteration of the team, created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan in the late 1960s, was enjoying a renewed prominence under the pen of Jim Valentino. This specific annual functioned as an expanded playground for the creative team to explore the cosmic reaches of the 31st-century timeline, serving as a showcase for character development that did not always fit into the tighter constraints of the monthly series.

The issue features work by writer Michael Gallagher and artist Kevin West, who leaned into the retro-futuristic aesthetic and high-stakes space opera tone that defined this era of the title. The narrative was designed to bridge gaps between broader galactic conflicts while maintaining the ensemble dynamic that fans of the series had come to expect. It was received as a standard installment of the 1990s cosmic line, appreciated by readers for its commitment to the sprawling, off-beat continuity of the original team before the property was later re-envisioned for modern audiences.
