Hanzō to Jūsannin no Kunoichi-tachi #3

Hanzō to Jūsannin no Kunoichi-tachi, or Hanzo and the Thirteen Kunoichi, emerged during the late 1970s as part of the flourishing gekiga genre in Japan. Created during a period when adult-oriented manga was gaining significant traction, the series follows the exploits of the legendary ninja Hattori Hanzō. Issue number three continues the narrative arc that blends historical fiction with the sensationalist elements typical of the seinen manga landscape of that era.

The visual style of this series reflects the gritty, high-contrast aesthetic popularized by influential manga artists of the time who sought to differentiate their work from the mainstream shōnen titles. These issues were designed to appeal to mature readers who appreciated intricate action sequences and stylized character designs. While the series maintains a niche position in the history of samurai and ninja-themed manga, it remains a representative example of the provocative and fast-paced storytelling techniques employed by independent publishers to capture the interest of the post-war Japanese reading public.
