Harley Quinn #59

Harley Quinn issue #59, released in 2019 as part of the DC Rebirth era, serves as a standalone chapter within Sam Humphries' extended run on the character. The issue follows Harley’s surreal journey through various dimensions, a narrative device intended to deconstruct her past and explore her fractured identity. At this point in the series, the writing focused heavily on meta-humor and emotional growth, distancing the character from her original origins as a sidekick while emphasizing her autonomy as a complex, often erratic protagonist.

The interior art and cover design reflect the vibrant, kinetic aesthetic that defined this iteration of the Harley Quinn ongoing series. Artists such as Sami Basri contributed to a visual style that balances whimsical, cartoonish expressions with the high-stakes action typical of DC superhero comics. This particular era of the character was well-received by fans who favored a lighter, more adventurous tone for Harley, contrasting sharply with the darker, more gritty portrayals found in other areas of the DC Universe at the time.
