Hellraiser: Resurrections - Hell's Council #1

Released in the early 2000s, Hellraiser: Resurrections - Hell's Council #1 emerged from the long-running comic book adaptations of Clive Barker’s iconic horror franchise. During this period, publishers sought to expand the Cenobite mythology beyond the original film narratives, focusing on the dark bureaucratic hierarchy of the Order of the Gash. This issue serves as an entry point into a multi-part story arc intended to flesh out the complex political motivations of the residents of the Labyrinth.

The visual direction for the series aimed to capture the visceral, gothic aesthetic established in the cinematic source material, characterized by high-contrast imagery and grotesque anatomical distortions. Illustrations and character designs for the run were developed to emphasize the cold, detached nature of the Cenobites while maintaining the series' signature themes of pain and desire. Upon its release, it was met with appreciation from the dedicated horror-comic community for its attempt to maintain the dark, philosophical tone of Barker's universe.
