History of the DC Universe #1

History of the DC Universe #1, published in 1986, was conceived as a narrative bridge following the company's monumental crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Pérez, the two-issue limited series served as a definitive chronicle intended to clarify the publisher's newly streamlined continuity. The project was born out of a need to provide readers with a cohesive account of a complex, decades-spanning multiverse that had just undergone a massive editorial restructuring.

George Pérez approached the visual documentation with his signature dense, intricate style, aiming to capture the essence of the DC mythos through grand, sweeping layouts. The series was met with significant critical appreciation for its ability to distill years of convoluted storylines into an accessible format. It is frequently regarded by scholars and long-time readers as the essential reference point for the post-Crisis landscape, acting as both an artistic showcase for Pérez and a foundational text for the modernized DC timeline.
