Horyo Eiyū: Sutegoma ni Sareta Kendo wa Tekikoku de Nariagaru #3

Horyo Eiyū: Sutegoma ni Sareta Kendo wa Tekikoku de Nariagaru, or 'Prisoner Hero: The Discarded Kendo Fighter Rises in the Enemy Country', is a Japanese light novel series written by Kendo and illustrated by Mita. Published by Kadokawa under their Sneaker Bunko imprint, the series emerged from the popular web novel tradition, finding its audience through online serialization before receiving a physical print release. The narrative explores themes of military strategy, political intrigue, and redemption as the protagonist navigates his transition from a disregarded pawn to a rising figure within a rival nation.

The third volume in the series serves to deepen the complex power dynamics and character motivations established in the initial chapters. Mita's illustrations provide a distinct visual identity for the series, utilizing a modern light novel aesthetic that emphasizes both the stark realism of the battlefield and the intricate character designs central to the plot. The series has been generally well-received by readers within the genre for its departure from standard tropes, focusing instead on the protagonist's tactical ingenuity and long-term political maneuvering.
