Hornsby & Halo #15

Hornsby & Halo #15 was released during the height of the mid-1980s indie comic book boom, a period characterized by experimental storytelling and black-and-white print formats. The series, created by writers and illustrators who embraced the irreverent, counter-cultural spirit of the era, focused on the dynamic between its eponymous characters. It emerged from the small-press tradition that challenged the dominance of major superhero publishers by offering satirical, character-driven narratives.

The visual design of this series is notable for its sharp line work and minimalist aesthetic, common in publications that favored artistic expression over glossy, mainstream production values. Issue #15 reflects the evolution of the series' tone, which gradually shifted toward more mature, self-reflective themes. Upon its release, it was received as a cult favorite among readers who gravitated toward alternative comics, solidifying its place as a representative artifact of independent 1980s sequential art.
