Hyde Street #10

Hyde Street is an independent comic book series created and illustrated by Dylan Williams through his imprint, Sparkplug Comic Books. Emerging from the vibrant independent comics scene of the early 2000s, the series functions as a semi-autobiographical anthology that captures the quiet, mundane, and often melancholic moments of daily life in San Francisco. Williams utilized a distinct, minimalist aesthetic, employing clean lines and a grounded visual narrative style that eschewed the bombast of mainstream superhero fiction in favor of personal reflection.

Issue number 10 continues the series’ exploration of urban isolation and the small, human connections found within a changing city landscape. Like many of Williams’ works, this issue was produced with a focus on artisanal print quality, reflecting the artist's commitment to the medium of the small-press zine. It was well-regarded among aficionados of autobiographical comics for its sincerity and its role in fostering a community of independent creators, cementing Williams’ legacy as a significant influence on the small-press movement before his passing in 2011.
