Il Giornalino #v. 85 no. 38

Il Giornalino is a long-standing Italian weekly publication that has been a staple of Catholic-oriented youth literature since its inception in 1924. Published by the Edizioni San Paolo, the magazine aimed to provide wholesome, educational, and entertaining content to families, often balancing moral instruction with high-quality comic strips and journalistic features. By the time this specific issue reached circulation, the magazine had spent decades fostering the work of prominent Italian illustrators and writers, serving as a significant platform for both domestic talent and European comic traditions.

The design philosophy of Il Giornalino shifted over the decades to adapt to changing artistic tastes, but it remained grounded in a distinct aesthetic of classic line work and narrative-driven storytelling. During its later years, the magazine sought to maintain its traditional footprint while incorporating contemporary social issues and modern illustration styles. The reception of these issues was largely driven by its deep integration into the school and parish systems in Italy, where it was regarded as a trusted medium for cultural and ethical literacy.
