Il Giornalino #v. 87 no. 02

Il Giornalino was a long-running Italian weekly magazine for youth, published by the Society of St. Paul. Established in 1924, it served as a platform for educational and religious content intertwined with serialized comics, maintaining a significant presence in the Italian publishing landscape for nearly a century until its final issue in 2024. The publication provided a steady venue for both emerging and established illustrators, often balancing traditional moral themes with accessible, engaging narrative styles designed to appeal to younger readers.

Issue v. 87 no. 02 reflects the magazine’s later editorial phase, where it continued its tradition of featuring a mix of original stories, informational columns, and licensed content. By the time this volume was printed, the magazine was recognized as an institution of Italian children's literature, though it faced increasing pressure from digital media and changing reading habits. The design aesthetic during these later years leaned into high-production color printing, aimed at maintaining visual continuity with the vibrant European comic tradition that had defined its middle decades.
