Illustrerte Klassikere #168

Illustrerte Klassikere was a long-running Norwegian comic book series that adapted classic literature into the visual medium of comics. Published by Williams Forlag, the series was designed to introduce younger readers to canonical works of Western literature such as The Three Musketeers and Treasure Island through condensed, illustrated narratives. The format drew heavy inspiration from the American Classics Illustrated line, maintaining a consistent editorial style that prioritized educational value alongside entertainment.

Issue number 168, titled 'Den hemmelighetsfulle øya' (The Mysterious Island), is an adaptation of Jules Verne’s 1874 novel. It was produced during the peak of the series' popularity in the 1960s, reflecting the era's commitment to serialization and affordable print media. While the illustrations were often sourced from international studios or repurposed from the original American plates, the Norwegian editions became a staple of home libraries, valued for their ability to bring complex literary themes to a broader demographic of schoolchildren.
