Illustrerte Klassikere #104

Illustrerte Klassikere, the Norwegian counterpart to the American Classics Illustrated series, began publication in 1952. The series was created to bring literary masterpieces to a younger audience by adapting novels such as Moby Dick, Ivanhoe, and The Three Musketeers into an accessible comic book format. These adaptations served an educational purpose, often introducing school-aged readers to classic literature through vivid, serialized panel art.

Issue number 104, titled 'Skatteøya' or 'Treasure Island', features the iconic Robert Louis Stevenson narrative. Like many entries in the series, the artwork and layout followed the established house style of the American Gilberton Company editions, which utilized a rotating group of uncredited but highly skilled illustrators. Upon its release in the Norwegian market, the issue was well-received as part of a widely read cultural staple that remained a fixture of Norwegian newsstands for over two decades.
